What's in a name?

Would you name your house?

It's such a romantic tradition that seems to be lost in the past, and so many of my favorite characters from literature and history lived in grand estates with equally grand titles. Maxim had Manderley, Scarlett had Tara, Jefferson had Monticello.

So when I dream of my future home I imagine giving it a name that suits its individuality and presence. It won't be a big house but it will have a warmth and dignity where friends always feel welcome and say in passing, "Oh, we're headed to....tonight".

Elsewhere

Recently, I've woken up with a great desire to kick my town in the shins and flee. I love my house and the people surrounding me but I've got restless leg syndrome of a sort-perhaps it's more akin to restless soul syndrome. It hurts my wanderlustful heart to see these pictures of Iceland:

Read anything good lately?

I am currently taking suggestions for books. I just finished Tess of the D'Urbervilles which broke my heart every time I turned a page. Now I'm reading Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote and while dissimilar to the movie, no one, today or ever would play a better Holiday Golightly than Miss Hepburn. She is wonderful as the intriguing character.

What are you reading? I'd love to hear!

I'll gamble away my fright

Wow. Can you believe Zach Condon (singer/songwriter/mastermind) of Beirut is barely 23? Just...wow.
